You've got your website up and running. Your SEO, PPC and email marketing is being taken care of. You're blogging and updating social media channels. Everything is great for your business in the world of digital marketing. Or is it?
Is your website mobile-friendly? Does it matter if it's not?
Yes, is the simple answer. As more of us use our mobiles to browse the Internet on-the-go, Google has been testing mobile-friendly icons. Different icons and wording have been used, alternately rewarding or punishing websites for being (or not being) mobile-friendly.
The idea is that people browsing your website on a mobile device will know immediately if they will be able to view the content they are looking for.
It is not yet known what Google will do with the information it has gathered from the testing, carried out since September 2014, but one thing is certain, it will soon be very easy for mobile users to ascertain whether a website is mobile-friendly or not. There is speculation that websites that are not mobile-friendly are likely to display lower in search results when being searched for on a mobile device.
Can you afford to run the risk of your competitors ranking higher in the search results?
